Inspiration for my weaving is rooted in nature and the land of the Northwest Coast. My main medium is red cedar bark and indigenous grasses. Barks and grasses are gathered and prepared using ancient techniques taught to me.
While many traditional pieces are composed of only natural materials, my contemporary works may call me to chose from synthetic or unusual materials. I look to unify traditional weaving with new perspectives using classical techniques while seeking unfamiliar sculptural ideas. By doing so. I continue to uncover limitless weaving possibilities.
My weaving artist partner, Robert Eagle Bear and I collaborate together on many pieces.
